Volunteering
As a small non-profit organization, we rely heavily on volunteer involvement. We are always looking for energetic individuals to help with the operation of our programs. Volunteer involvement is very flexible and always welcomed. Here are just a few of the ways to get involved:
Board Members - We are currently recruiting new board members to be elected to the board 2018/19 Board. In order to ensure the healthy functioning of our board, we ideally look for a 2-year commitment from board members. Our board meets once a month, for approximately 2 hours. The times of meetings depends largely on the board members preferences, and is likely to be evenings this coming year. In addition to monthly meetings, there is a minimal additional time commitment involved in reading email communication ahead of meetings. Several board members also join committees formed by the board, to work on specific projects (e.g. policy development, fundraising, by-law updates If you are interested in being on the board, please let us know. We are more than happy to provide any additional information you might be interested in. Our AGM is in October.
Fundraising Events & Promotion - As a small non-profit, fundraising revenue is essential to the operation of RCCCS. Throughout the year we hold several small events to generate extra revenue for the society. Each year, we have a board member who oversees the fundraising efforts for the school, however the support of additional volunteers is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in helping with fundraising, please get in touch.
Other Volunteer Opportunities - Do you build amazing yard structures for kids to play on? Are you great at fixing or repairing things? Do you love writing newsletters or blogs? Is gardening your favourite pastime? Do you just love painting exterior walls? Do you have a talent that we could use at one of our special events (e.g. face painting, singing, magic skills). There is no end to the number of ways you could get involved. Please let us know how you’d like to volunteer!
